Mathew John Roden, age 30, of New Richmond, WI, died Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the Spring Valley Health and Rehab Center in Spring Valley, WI. Matt was born the son of Michael and Kathleen (Hedlof) Roden on February 14, 1991 in Willmar, MN. Matt grew up in Willmar and graduated from Minnewaska High School with the class of 2009. He loved animals, especially cats and dogs. Matt liked all types of games, video games, board games, card games, as long as they were enjoyed with family and friends. While living in Willmar, he especially enjoyed weekly gaming sessions with good friends. He enjoyed cooking and loved to try new recipes. Matt was a quiet man, generous to a fault, and a gentle teddy bear. He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Roden; grandparents, Kenneth and Janice Hedlof and Nancy Dalton. Matt is survived by his mother, Kathleen (Kevin Midgett) Roden; sister, Kristina Roden; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Matt’s Life will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI 54017. Another celebration will be held in the Willmar, MN area at a date and time yet to be determined. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
