Mary was born February 12, 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI to Milo Oliver & Marjorie Verna (Clark) Askov. She died August 1, 2013 in New Richmond, WI surrounded by her loving family, after a short battle with Cancer.
Mary and her parents moved to a farm in Luck, WI when she was two years old. She was the oldest of five. Mary graduated from Luck High School in 1951. Mary was married to Willard Johnson for 29 years and four children were born to this union.
Mary worked a variety of jobs over the years including bookkeeping, waitress, cook, store clerk, factory work, seamstress, personal home care giver and was the co-owner, with her Son Robert, of a Bed and Breakfast.
Mary was known for her creative side in crafts, sewing, quilting, gardening and her retirement was spent with her passion for creating watercolor paintings. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, gift of gab and sense of humor. She enjoyed her family and friends, art, music and travel. She was a resident of Scott Town, Burnett County, WI for over 40 years.
Mary is survived by her children, Allan (Hazle) Johnson of New Richmond, WI, Carolyn (Gary) Beitel of Spooner, WI, Robert (Tom Roycraft) Johnson, Minneapolis, MN and Brian Johnson of New Richmond, WI. Sisters, Marlys (Herb) Nagorske, Myrna Landkamer and Muriel (Dave) Bungert. Grandchildren, Jamie Johnson, Kathleen (Chad) Rauschnot, Michael Cain, Courtney (Javier) Ballina and Vicky Cain as well as great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Skow, her parents and brother-in law, Ray Landkamer. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday August 11, 2013 at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home 307 South Arch Avenue in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
