Marvin Ronnie, age 93, of New Richmond died Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the Deerfield Gables Care Center. He was born the son of Joseph and Marion Ronnie on June 5, 1927 in Walden, MN. He married Catherine Ronnie in 1952 until her passing in 1997 where they lived in Colorado Springs, CO. After Catherine’s death, Marvin resided in Colorado Springs with his life partner, Margaret Dunnuck from 1998 until Margaret’s passing in 2019. Marvin joined the Air Force in 1946 and retired from the Air Force in 1967 as a Merchant Marine Master Sergeant serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star for work in Intelligence. Following retirement from the military, Marvin worked in US Civil Service until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed boating and RV camping in the Colorado mountains, caring for and walking his dogs, and caring for multiple stray cats in the neighborhood. Marvin was a member of several bowling leagues and was a kind, caring person to all that knew him and who could never sit still for very long. He will be remembered for taking care of others, telling jokes, his robust laughter and sarcasm, telling military stories and his strong support of the Republican party. He is survived by his stepson, Tim Symons; sisters, Gail Gess, Donna Molde, Rose Regenauer, Betty (Harold) Hendrickson, and Mary Pooler; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; life partner, Margaret Dunnuck; parents, Joseph and Marion; sister, Mary Jane; brothers-in-law, Marv Gess, Luverne Molde, and Don Regenauer; and many extended relatives. A Memorial service was held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:00AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church (17852 350th Ave, Starbuck, MN 56381). Cremation Services provided by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
