Marvin L. Nelson, age 80, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 2nd 2021.  He was born in New Richmond, WI to Leonard and Mary Nelson.  He graduated high school from New Richmond and attended the University of Wisconsin, River Falls.  He was married to Ruth Nelson for 53 years.  He worked at Norwest Airlines for over 30 years until his retirement.  Marv “Chief” truly lived life to the fullest with a passion for his beloved dogs, the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers, golfing, hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He was a voracious reader of many books per week.  He enjoyed reading multiple newspapers and writing editorials and was published on many occasions.

He loved his Church and Church Family at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, River Falls and was the head usher for the second service for many, many years.  He had a gift for making people laugh.

He is survived by his loving wife Ruth, a brother Harry and sister-in-law Gloria and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:0o am at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in River Falls.  Visitation was also on Saturday the 17th from 10-11 am at the church.  A reception followed the service. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
