Constance “Marlene” Hanson was born on March 4th, 1934, and was raised in Hudson, Wisconsin. From a young age, Marlene demonstrated the strong work ethic, kindness, and determination that continue to define her today. At only 15 years old, she began her first job, beginning a lifetime of hard work and dedication.

During her school years, Marlene was active in many activities and loved being involved. She played the baritone horn in middle school and high school band and even traveled with the marching band to Winnipeg, Canada. She was also a cheerleader who loved sports and school spirit. Her intelligence and commitment to learning helped her graduate with honors in May of 1952, earning a two-year business scholarship.

In the summer of 1948, Marlene met the love of her life, Don Hanson of New Richmond. Their love story became one cherished by family and friends—Don would hitchhike to Hudson just to see her. Marlene and Don were married on August 16th, 1952, and together built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, love, and hard work.

In 1956, they purchased their first home in New Richmond, where they raised their three children: Cindy, Laurie, and Dan. Marlene devoted herself to creating a loving and welcoming home filled with warmth, laughter, and support. She also worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses in New Richmond over the years, including the New Richmond News office, where she was known for her reliability and dedication.

Family has always been at the heart of Marlene’s life. She is a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasures the many memories made with her growing family. Her love and support have touched generations, and she continues to be a source of strength, wisdom, and encouragement to those who know her best.

Marlene and Don shared many happy adventures together throughout their marriage. They loved camping, fishing, and traveling, especially trips to Phoenix to visit family. They also enjoyed square dancing together and attending Country Fest with their camper, creating wonderful memories along the way.

After Don’s passing in June of 1998, Marlene continued to show incredible strength and resilience. In 2019, she moved from her longtime home in New Richmond to The Deerfield unassisted living, where she has continued sharing her warm smile, caring heart, and positive spirit with everyone around her.

At 92 years young, Marlene is admired for her kindness, grace, strong values, and love for family and friends. Her life story reflects a generation built on perseverance, compassion, and community. She has touched countless lives through her caring nature and continues to inspire those around her every day.

A Celebration of Marlene’s Life will be Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 11 am at the New Richmond United Methodist Church 209 E 2nd Street New Richmond, WI. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
