Marjorie Shirmer age 73 of River Falls passed away after complications from pneumonia on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Hudson Hospital. She was born the daughter of Prosper and Edith (Stanton) Nys on December 2, 1943 in Rush City, MN. Marjorie graduated from Rush City High School and on July 13, 1962, she married Leonard Shirmer. The couple moved to the River Falls area and Marjorie was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church. Marjorie loved to travel and took many trips with her husband and with her sister over the years. A favorite trip of hers was to Texas to visit her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Scott (Deina) Shirmer of Wisconsin and Rodney (Rose) Shirmer of Texas; her grandchildren, Brandon, Mandi (fiance’, Mike Hess), Nicole, Rachel and Lorelei Shirmer; great-grandson, Wyatt Hess; sister, Judy (Duane) Anderson; nieces and nephews. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; nephew, Bradley Anderson; and great nephew, Matthew Siefert. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 at the United Methodist Church (127 S 2nd St.) in River Falls. Visitation was also Saturday from 10-11 am at the Church. Spring interment will be in Kinnickinnic Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
My heart goes out to the family. Marjory and Leonard used to be our neighbors and Marjory was a very special lady and she will be missed.
