Marian J. Meyer, age 92 of New Richmond, WI, died on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Our House Assisted Living in New Richmond. Marian was born the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Dreischmeier) Doering on October 25, 1926 outside of La Valle, WI. She grew up in La Valle and went on to the Platteville Normal School where she received her Teaching Certificate. Marian was married to Kenneth E. Meyer on August 13, 1947 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wonewoc, WI. They moved their family to New Richmond in February of 1954. Marian was a homemaker, teacher, and mother. She was also the New Richmond agent for the St. Paul Pioneer Press paper routes. As the “newspaper lady” Marian influenced and mentored many young people with their first jobs in the community. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she was active in many ways, serving on the Altar Guild, and participating in different women’s ministries and service groups. Marian volunteered at the Five Loaves Food Shelf for several years. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, dancing, cards with friends, and Chinese checkers. Her favorite hobby was keeping friends, family and her cats well fed. Marian lived her life in service to others. She was giving and compassionate. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Clara Doering; husband, Kenneth Meyer; daughter-in-law, Brenda Page; grandson, Nathan Halls; and brother, Grant (LaVerne) Doering. Marian is survived by her children: Steven Meyer, Larry (Sharon) Meyer, Doering Sue Meyer, Janelle (Randy) Ihnen, and James (Anita) Meyer; grandchildren: Garrett Ihnen, Casey Ihnen, Cory Meyer, and Julie Meyer, as well as many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Visitation was held Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 10 am – 12 noon at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in New Richmond with a Memorial Service followed at noon. Interment was on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 11 am in the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Memorials may be directed to the Five Loaves Food Shelf. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of New Richmond.
