Luane “Lewy” E. Johnson, Sr., age 91, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Deerfield, in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Lewy was the youngest of eight sons born to Martin and Alma Johnson on April 17, 1933, at the family home in Star Prairie, Wisconsin and he was a 1951 graduate of Osceola High School. On April 5, 1958, he was united in marriage with Clarice Severson at Salem Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minnesota and together they raised five sons. He worked 38 years at Whirlpool and for 20 plus years at Bernards. Lewy raised pigs and beef cattle on the family hobby farm. Lewy enjoyed bowling, going to classic car shows and polka music. He and Clarice loved to travel together, with Alaska and Germany being two of their fondest trips. Bringing his Shetland ponies to the local fairs and parades for the kids to ride gave him great joy. He loved to snowmobile and in his later years, he could be found riding his three wheeled motorcycle. Lewy was an easy-going man and with a great sense of humor. He truly treasured spending time and having breakfast with his family and friends.
Lewy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Clarice; sons, Gregory, Mitchell (Lavon), Luane, Jr., Daniel and Jeffrey (Kristie); along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Alma; grandson, Marty; and his seven brothers.
A memorial service for Lewy was held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 11:00AM at West Immanuel Lutheran Church (447 180th Street) Osceola, Wisconsin with visitation beginning at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to West Immanuel Lutheran Church.
