Lorraine Shirley Humphrey passed away peacefully on Saturday morning August 3rd 2024 surrounded by her family after a long, admirable battle with cancer.
Lori was born in Milwaukee WI to Fred and Marriane Engelke. She grew up loving life on the farm, and being outside in the sunshine. A trait that she carried her entire life. Lori’s favorite spot was in the sun, by the pool, surrounded by her family.
Lori will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, her fashion, but most of all her love. She was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and was always welcoming to anyone she met. She loved shopping with her mom, and children and was known by everyone for her great sense of style and class. In the last few years she became a grandma to six beautiful babies and everyone could tell that being a loving grandma was what she was made for.
Lori is preceded in death by her father, Fred Engelke, and her husband, John Humphrey.
She is survived by her mother, Marriane, her brother Ron, and her children, Lane (Taylor), Lisa (Brent), and Sam, and her beloved grandchildren Mason, Quinn, Wyatt, Miles, Brooks, and Cecelia.
See you on the other side Mom, we will miss you every day.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Lori at a later date to be determined.
Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Lane, Lisa, and Sam We are at a loss of words at hearing of your mom’s passing. She was a great friend and neighbor and will truly be missed. We hope you find comfort in knowing that she is not suffering anymore and with the love of her life John
I’m very sorry to hear of Lori’s passing. She was a very nice lady, I always enjoyed seeing her at school district functions. Sincere condolences to her children and the family.
Our very deepest sympathies to the entire Humphrey family, and to Marianne and Ron. We are so sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry to hear of Lori’s passing, and send Lori’s family my deepest condolences. I know Lori as a regular participant in my fitness classes I teach at the Hudson YMCA. She has been coming to my classes for years. I have missed seeing her beautiful smile in my classes the past year. She often chatted with me after class, sharing with me her times spent with her family; she loved you all dearly. She had such a positive outlook on life, and so very courageous in her battle. I am so in awe of her strength. I think of her every day I step in front of class to teach class, looking to the front right side spot she always went to in class. She will be greatly missed by my participants and myself.
Lane, Lisa, Sam, Ron and Marrianne: Tante Lorraine will be dearly missed but her amazing spirit and love will live on in my memories. She posessed a great sense of humor, getting back at you with her great witt, a laugh to fill the room, and love of nature where she lived. I am sorry I cant be there with all of you but will be in memory. Love, Elmar
My sympathies to Lori’s family during this time, I worked with her at the River Falls Journal as well as shopped many times at Talbots when she worked there. Such a beautiful soul ❤️
Lane,Lisa,Sam,Ron, so very sorry for thelosd of your mom, I remember volunteering with her atGreenwood, she was always happy, one of the kindest person I have ever met and so fun to talk to. I am Alex Barum’s mom and I know he respected your mom too! Sending hugs and ❤️
My heart breaks for all of you. I worked with Lori at Endeavor as a Special Assignment Flight Attendant. When I first met her, I thought she was the most beautiful & classy gal, when I got to know her, I learned she loved her family so much & had a beautiful, kind soul. Her smile lit up a room. Her makeup & uniform were always perfect. She had an easy laugh. She meant a lot to me & I’ll cherish the memories I have of her. Just know she talked about her children often & when she first became a Grandma, she was beaming with pride. I’m sad she had to suffer. She is a true gem & she will be missed by so many. Rest in peace, sweet Lori.
My heart is sad just thinking about Lorraine’s passing, It’s just so very sad, hard to believe she is gone. I babysat for her and Ronnie a very long time ago. She was the epitome of beauty and class; one of a kind! Rest in peace sweet Lori; and now you will be with your husband and your Dad, Say hello to Fritz for me! We had a few good times at “the home”. You will be missed by so many – especially by your mom. Many hugs, and God’s blessings to you always!!
I am absolutely devastated reading this. Laurie was one of my most favorite customers, I did her hair back in the 90s and early 2000s, absolutely beautiful inside and out as well as your father, Which I found out in her obituary that he had passed away also prior to her I am so very sorry. I’m sure you don’t remember me, but I just want you know I thought the world of both your parents.
