Lola Wiese 07/13/2018

Lola Wiese, age 88, of River Falls, WI, died Friday, July 13, 2018 at her home in River Falls. Lola was born in Luck, WI on July 20, 1929 to John and Dora (Jensen) Petersen. She attended country grade school and graduated from Luck High School class of 1947. Lola completed advanced education at Dana College in Blair, NE, and at Polk County Normal School teachers’ college in St. Croix Falls, WI. After college she moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked at several commercial firms before taking a position assisting pastoral staff in support of young single adult programs at Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church. There she met her future husband, Glen Wiese, and they were married on October 22, 1955 at Luck Lutheran Church in Luck, WI. They lived in White Bear Lake, MN before moving to River Falls in 1964. Lola and Glen welcomed three children, Nancy, Diane, and James. In addition to being a full-time homemaker and raising her children, Lola was active in the church choir and women’s circles and other ministries at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls, and all who knew her found her to be a person of great faith, compassion, and kindness. She was an avid reader and a life-long learner who enjoyed nature, genealogy, antiquing, and traveling. Lola and her family were blessed by the loving care received from staff and friends at WellHaven Senior Living Apartments, Heartland Hospice, and Ezekiel Lutheran Church. Lola is preceded in death by her parents John and Dora Petersen; brother Harley Petersen; sister Fern Rasmussen and brother-in-law Howard Rasmussen; brother Reno Petersen and sister-in-law Darlene Petersen; brother Carlo Petersen; brother-in-law Vernon Hansen. Lola is survived by her husband of 62 years, Glen; children, Nancy (Anthony) Nasvik of River Falls; Diane (Carl) Bjornstal of River Falls; James (Gloria) Wiese of Chanhassen, MN; grandchildren, David (Kelly) Wiese; Robert Wiese; Christine Bjornstal; Ryan Bjornstal; sister Melba Hansen; sisters-in-law Donna Mae Petersen and Judy Petersen; and many other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11 am at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, 202 S. 2nd Street, River Falls, WI. Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Ezekiel Lutheran Church and also on Wednesday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls following the funeral lunch. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
