Lois King, age 77, of New Richmond died Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Amery Medical Center.  Lois Irene King was born December 18, 1944 in Red Wing, MN to Edwin and Erma (Bartels) Mehrkens.  She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1962.  She married Vernon Voght and had 3 children David, Wayne and Pamela.  The couple later divorced.  Lois went to Red Wing Area Vocational School to become an LPN from 1977-1978.  She worked at various nursing homes in Wisconsin.  Lois met and later married Julian King and gained two step-children.  She enjoyed many days of fishing, spending time with family, friends and was a long-time member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in New Richmond.  She is survived by her sons, David Voght, Wayne (Lisa) Voght; her daughter, Pamela Kjellberg; step-children, Ken (Aimee) King and Wendy (Gary) Swanson; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, WendyJo Mehrkens and various nieces and nephews.  Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Julian King; parents, Edwin and Erma Mehrkens; brothers, Larry and David Mehrkens; and sister Karen Knoepke.  A memorial service was held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11:00 am at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave.) in New Richmond.  The service will be live streamed via the link at the bottom of the obituary.  Visitation was on Friday from 10-11 am at the funeral home.  Interment was at 3 pm on Friday the 7th in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
