Lillian Koskelin, 94, passed away peacefully at home in New Richmond, WI on Sunday, April 6, 2025 after a brief illness. Lillian was born the eldest child of Robert and Elvera Shaw on July 21, 1930. She spent her childhood in the southern part of Wisconsin but moved to Eagle River around age 16. She was working as a telephone operator when she met the love of her life, Leo B. Koskelin. Lillian and Leo were joined in marriage on April 10, 1948 and shared nearly 69 wonderful years together. Lillian was an accomplished seamstress and stay at home mother until her youngest was in high school and she began working outside the home, most notably as a rural mail carrier for many years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, volunteering with 4-H and was an avid reader. Lillian is survived by her children David (Deb), Don (UnMi), Joy and Kathy (Jeff) Hotovec, as well as grandchildren Jessica (Ben), Alan (Jill), Rachel (Alex), Marie (Adam), Nicole (Jordan), Kristopher (Tonya), Jamie and Sara (Brian) and great-grandchildren Lillian, Henrik, Jacob, Bristol, Aurelia, Oliver, Sylvia, Griffin, Aubrey, Sebastian, Colin, Andrew and Thomas. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Leo, son Steven, grandson Nathan, daughter Susan Johnston, son-in-law Neil Johnston, brother Arnold, half-brothers James, Thomas and Charles Woodrow and mother Elvera. A family remembrance will be held at a future date. Bakken-Young Funeral and Cremation Services of New Richmond is assisting the family.
