Leonard Olson 11/10/2011

Leonard P. Olson age 87 of Pepin died Thursday. November 10, 2011 at  Pepin Manor.  He was born the son of Edwin and Mabel (Peterson) Olson on August 1, 1924 in Maiden Rock, WI.  Leonard served his country in U.S. Army during the Korean War.  On June 28, 1952, he married Wanda June Bjurquist at Sabylund Lutheran Church.  Leonard worked for Pierce County and as a carpenter with Tri-State and finally Lunda construction companies, retiring in 1989.  He was a member of the Local 87 Carpenter’s Union.  Leonard loved to garden and enjoyed woodworking, yard work, fixing things and spending time with his grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard, Harold and James Olson.  Leonard will be missed by his wife, Wanda; daughter, Wendy (Jeff) Seipel of Inver Grove Heights, MN; son, Peter (Mary) Olson of Pepin, WI; grandchildren, Taylor Seipel, Nick Seipel, Brody Olson, Jackie Olson; siblings, Floyd Olson, Dorothy Johnson, Clinton (Dorthea) Olson, May (Stan) Ramberg, Maynard (Carol) Olson, Margaret (Glenn) Dankers; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin.  Visitation was also Tuesday from 12:00-2:00 pm at the church.  Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Maiden Rock.
