Leon “Bud” Hofland, age 90, of River Falls died Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Kinnic Health and Rehab. Bud was born and raised in Star Prairie area. He joined the US Army and served his country during the Korean War. In 1958, he married Carol Long. Bud was a farmer all his life working on many area farms. He worked for Lester Sullivan building poll barns and he would say “the best years of his life” were working on the Quinn Farm outside of Ellsworth. Bud loved John Deere tractors and polka dancing. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Linda (Glenn) Hall; sister, Donna Bierbauer; sister-in-law, Sylvia Hofland; grandchildren, Cheryl (David) Lindquist, Jeff Hall, Travis (Heather) Duncan, Amy Jo (James) Skaggs, Kayla (Tony) Barber, Adam (Brandi) Duncan; 10 great-grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Selma; sons, Gary and Roger Duncan; brother, John Hofland; sisters, Eleanor (Louie) Larson, Evelyn (Bill) Griffin, VernaMae (Dick) Jorgenson, and Shirley (Glen) Jorgenson. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 am at Roberts Congregational Church (1001 Birch Drive) in Roberts. Visitation was 1 hour prior to the service. Interment was in West Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post #80 of New Richmond. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
