Lawrence Rau 09/14/2023

Lawrence Rau 69 of Star Prairie, was called to his eternal home on September 14 2023, after a long struggle with his health.
Lawrence grew up on the family farm in Goodrich WI, being the 5th of 6 children born to John and Myrtle Rau. He was a graduate of Medford Sr High School. In 1974 Lawrence married Marilyn Kloth at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford. After their marriage, Lawrence enrolled in Wausau NCTI -Machine Tool Prog. Graduating in 1976. After graduation Lawrence and Marilyn moved to St. Paul Minnesota where he was employed at Remmele Engineering obtaining his Journeyman’s Card in the machine tool trade. During his employment Lawrence became a supervisor and CNC programmer. In 1986 Lawrence and Marilyn, and the children, built their home in Star Prairie Wisconsin, where he resided until his passing. Upon early retirement from Remmele Engineering, Lawrence worked as a machinist and programmer at various companies- OEM of Baldwin, EPS of New Richmond, McNally Industries of Grantsburg, Haberman Machine Co. North St Paul MN, and SMC, Somerset, WI. He enjoyed the challenge of learning different aspects of the machine shop trade.
Lawrence loved the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed hunting and being outside, working on things in the yard with his family. He enjoyed making things, being creative, and working with his tractor. He loved to travel, visiting many historic locations and National Parks throughout the Western states. Lawrence truly enjoyed these family vacations to the mountains … and to experience these journeys thru the children’s eyes.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Marilyn and children Matthew and Heather. Brothers and sisters: Leon Rau (Karen) of Medford, Ed Rau (Barb Jochimsen) of Medford, Lynn Glamann (Craig) of Medford, along with nieces and nephews, cousins, former coworkers, neighbors, and dear friends.
