I am so heart-broken. I have known Larry since the 70’s when I met him at Dale Hansen’s St Croix Harley Davidson in New Richmond. I had just purchased 3 basket case Harley WL’s and was looking for any kind of help. I was referred to Larry.
He considered you most knowledgeable and a friend indeed! Larry spoke kindly of you always.
My deepest condolences to the Engesether family. My thought and prayers go out to you as this most difficult time.
Thank you Katie.
Thoughts and prayers to all the Engesether family. Larry will be missed by so many.
Thank you Fellingers!
I worked with Larry and Tom at UW-River Falls in the Facilities Department. We always had “interesting” political discussions! Condolences to the entire Engesether family, especially Tom.
Thank you so much
I worked with Larry at UW River Falls. He and his brother Tom worked in Facilities Management. I have the utmost respect for Tom and Larry. They served the campus, our students and the community with great pride. I especially appreciated the time I was able to share with Larry at Hunt Arena. Larry was part of the team that kept the building operating and the ice frozen in the latter part of his career. I genuinely miss Larry and Tom for their friendship, stories and explanations of how “things” work. Larry would always make the time to explain how a particular “system” worked which was very valuable to me as a young manager. I also appreciated hearing about Larry’s Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He was proud of the fact that he could take something old and make it run like a top. My condolences to the entire Engesether family. Larry will be greatly missed. God Speed my friend.
He was a one of a kind. Except for Tom. Lol. Thank you for your kind words.
I worked with Larry & Tom at UWRF. When I first started I thought they were the same person. When I found out they were twins, I figured out how to tell them apart. I always enjoyed our conversations and talking with them. My condolences to the entire Engesther family and especially to Tom.
So thoughtful. Thank you.
I am so very, very sadden for your family loss of Larry. Larry was always willing to help many people out over the years at UWRF. Larry touched a lot of people with his kindness including myself. Both Larry and Tom wore huge mustaches and always had a hidden smile beneath. Larry’s smile will be truly missed.
The smile, due to his stash, could be seen in his eyes!
My deepest sympathy to the whole family. You are in my thoughts & prayers.
Thank you so much
I sat behind Larry and his brother Tom in History classes back in the 60’s…they were always doodling and so close as twins. Rest In Peace Larry…heart felt condolences to his wife and family. YOU all are in my thoughts, prayers, and memories.
Thank you so much.
My condolences to all the Engesether family. I first met Larry when he started at the central heating plant at UWRF. Larry made the comment that he was a “mechanic “. It became clear to me very quickly that he was not a mechanic. He was a artist and a true craftsman. I remember seeing boxes of parts of a Harley Davidson motorcycle on his garage floor. I later saw that same motorcycle being risen down the road. I will forever miss “you know, of course “. Larry-you will always be a gentleman and a gentle man.
You were a big part of his life, Ken. I’m thinking the world really did lose a special man. He never thought he was all that. But he really was.
With deepest sympathy to brother Tom and the entire Engesether family. I too worked with Larry at UWRF. We had some great disscussions about american history and the Civil War. I remember Larry quizzing me on State capitals. We had some good laughs. A super great guy….rest in peace.
Thank you for your thoughts. Larry did love his job and the folks he encountered every day.

I worked with Larry in maintenance at UWRF. Being the first women in the department made it tough and Larry gave me no slack when it came to doing repairs. Working with steam scared the heck out of me, but he taught me so much. He later admitted that I did OK in the shop, but was not one to give out “at-a-boys”. I will miss not seeing he and Tom stopping in from time to time. My sympathy to the family.
Thank you Terry. You helped Larry achieve a dream of playing with guns and cannons.
Thank you Lurene
Thank you Lurene.
Larry and Tom were quite the pair and what a honor to work with them. Larry was such a professional mechanic and I had the utmost respect for him. My sympathy to Tom and the entire family.
Thank you

Our condolences to Larry’s family. He was a perfectionist in everything he did. When I was his supervisor at UWRF I could alway count on him to help resolve the many daily issues of maintaining the campus.. When it was time to do his yearly evaluation I would always give him the highest marks possible, but he would tell me I can do better and will. Larry was always willing to help on our interview committee when hiring new employees in the mechanic shop. He could tell you anything you wanted to know about the civil war from the north to the south.
Larry will truly be missed by his family and the many friends he has!
You are in our thoughts and prayers!
To my friend and coworker “Rest in Peace”
Thank you two so much. Larry really liked working at UWRF. He had many fond memories of it.
I always enjoyed my conversations with Larry. He would come to Milwaukee each year to our Wild Ones event at the Harley-Davidson Museum. He would also stop by the Museum when he was in town visiting his daughter and check in on me. He will be missed.
He just loved that museum and the people there. Thank you Bill.
I didn’t know Larry, only the few times we all chatted while on our walks. Always so pleasant. Your neighbor Lee and Murphy. God bless you and your family. My deepest sympathy.
Thank you. My walks are not as fun without Larry chatting up people on the way.
So sorry Lavonne, I just now heard. You and Larry have always been kind friends that I’ve looked up to for a long time. He will be missed, along with his history lessons.
