LaVon Dusbabek Scanlan

LaVon Mary Dusbabek Scanlan (affectionately known as Duzy), passed away peacefully on March 2, 2011. LaVon was born in Faribault, MN on February 22, 1929 and met Luverne “Irish” Scanlan of Lanesboro, MN while at Winona State Teacher’s College. Married in 1948, LaVon then became the devoted mother of 11, who spent her life taking care of her family. The Scanlans lived in Lanesboro for many years and then moved to Fountain City, WI in 1971. Since retirement in 1989, Duzy and Irish lived at the family-built log cabin in Clam Lake, WI.

LaVon is survived by her husband; 11 children, Susan, Thomas, Rebecca Konter, Barbara Dokken (Paul), Michael, Michele, Patrick (Sam), Timothy (Michelle), Peter, John (Claudia) and Mary; 14 grand-children, Christopher, Brad, Whitney, Andrew, Debra, Jenni, Michelle, Paul, Eric, Maggie, Seamus, Piper, Isabella and Sophia; and four great-grand-children, Bohde, Jayden, Mason, and Annalie.

LaVon loved to celebrate life with family and friends. She loved being a wife. She loved golf, playing bridge, the birthday club with her friends, singing, and parading her children around town. Duzy will be missed by her beloved family and countless friends and acquaintances with whom she shared her giving heart.

Visitation will take place Thursday, March 10th from 4-8pm at Cullen Crea Funeral Home, 307 South Arch Avenue, New Richmond, WI 54017. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 11th (1 PM) at Immaculate Conception Church, 151 South Washington Avenue, New Richmond. Luncheon to follow the service in the church basement, Corrigan Hall. Please send flowers to Cullen Crea Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
