Larry Turnipseed 06/25/2019

Larry Willard Turnipseed, age 82 of New Richmond, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Deerfield Gables Care Center.  Larry was born the son of Willard and Evelyn (Klousia) Turnipseed on December 16, 1936, in Gillingham in Richland County, WI. He grew up in Richland County and attended school in Richland Center, WI.  He married Arlene Dyer on March 4, 1955 at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Richland Center, WI.  They resided in Lone Rock, WI where they operated their own turkey farm.  In 1971, they moved to New Richmond for Larry to manage the Doboy Research Farm. In 1979, the family decided to farm and manufacture milk replacer and cattle feed.  Larry and Arlene, along with their son and daughter-in-law, also owned and operated Pine Meadows Golf Course in New Richmond from 1998-2015.  Larry was a member of the New Richmond United Methodist Church. He was an exceptional fast pitch softball pitcher and hitter well into his late 30’s. He wasn’t a golfer but liked to visit with patrons on the golf course. Farming was always in his blood, and he enjoyed vegetable gardening and sharing his abundant produce with many.  He spent time watching the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and Bucks.  He also loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and was usually the first one in the stands. He was generous, hard-working as well as fiercely competitive.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene (Dyer) Turnipseed; parents, Willard and Evelyn Turnipseed; brother-in-law Thomas Bartels. He is survived by his children, Shari (Tim) Henrich, Gary (Jill) Turnipseed, and Janelle (Ryan) Stephens; grandchildren, Erin (Adam) Turner, Nicholas (Michelle) Henrich, Casey Turnipseed, Joey Turnipseed, and Max Stephens; great-grandchildren, Lindson Turner, Sierra Turner, River Turner, Ayazi Turner, Demitri Turner, Hannah Henrich, Samantha Henrich, and Sarah Henrich; siblings, Kirby (Ann) Turnipseed and Suzanne Bartels; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  A Funeral Service was held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church (209 E 2nd St, New Richmond, WI 54017). Visitation was held Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment was in the New Richmond Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
