Kenneth Kohlrusch 10/28/2018

Kenneth Kohlrusch, age 90 of New Richmond, WI died Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the St. Croix Health and Rehab Center. Ken was born the son of Melvin and Hulda Kohlrusch on October 11, 1928 in New Richmond. He grew up in New Richmond, graduating from New Richmond High School, class of 1947. Following graduation, Ken worked for the local greenhouse, New Richmond Postal Service, and many years in construction. He also worked at the New Richmond step program at the high school. Ken married Lois Geurkink on November 15, 1952 in Baldwin, WI. He built four of his own houses as well as the first house for each of his sons. Ken loved wood working, lawn care, and gardening as well as hunting, fishing, and spending time at Shell Lake. He had a passion for attending sporting events of his children and grandchildren and going to coffee club at McDonald’s. Ken was a meticulous, hard-worker who was soft-spoken. He was a member of the First Baptist Church for 70 years and worked on many construction projects at the church. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Les Ryberg, Glen Geurkink, and Dick Carlson. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois; children, Mike (Teri) and Mark (Bev); grandchildren, Nathan, Jared (Courtney Hayes), and Jonathan, Aaron and Carson; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Kendall; sister, Marge Ryberg; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Geurkink and Carol Carlson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A memorial service was held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church (341 North Shore Drive New Richmond, WI 54017) with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of New Richmond.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed our conversations and we had the best one on Friday. He also could light up a room with his smile. Thank you for allowing us to care for him. Our thoughts are with you.
