
Keith Eugene Curtis, age 94, passed away August 26, 2024. He was born in Fargo, ND to Andrew and Phena Curtis June 24, 1930.
Keith served in the Armed Forces as USAR Ready Reserve (active status) inducted Feb. 21, 1951, was transferred to USAR January 30, 1953 and was honorably discharged from the Army Jan. 21, 1957. While active duty, Keith served in the 81st Engr Boat CO APO 21 in France for the Korean War. He was a proud member of the Stillwater American Legion Post No. 48 for 36 years.
Keith met Evangeline (Vange) Berg in Osakis, MN, and they were married in 1955. They raised three sons and were happily married 59 years until Vange’s passing in 2014. They lived in Mora, Red Wing, and Stillwater, MN making this their home until retiring in Henriette, MN.
Keith had many hobbies. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, making picture frames, repairing and caning chairs, carving and refinishing willow walking sticks, painting glass and window frames. He also enjoyed making and then painting stools. He and his wife, Vange, shared the love of camping with family and friends. They had many adventures at flea markets and craft shows here and in Arizona where they wintered for several years. They loved to work on crafting together, especially creating items for their grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Keith is survived by two sons, Craig (Sharon) Curtis, Brent (Terri) Curtis; his daughter-in-law, Melissa Curtis; 7 grandchildren, Cassondra (Joshua) Renneke, Neil (Jessica) Curtis, Garret (Elizabeth) Curtis, Randi (Nick) Netteberg, Jennae and Jae Curtis, Joseph Curtis; 10 great grandchildren, Jacob, Owen, Claire, Gage, Paxton, Caleb, Logan, Sawyer, Clayton, Vivian; sisters, Beverly (Earl) Thompson, Linda Johnson; sisters-in-law, Lorita Curtis, Elaine Grinstead, Marita Berg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evangeline (Vange); his son, Bryce; his parents; and his 2 brothers, Myron (“Jim”) and Leon and many other family members.
A private family service with a military honors ceremony and internment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Pine City, MN.
