Kathryn “Kam” Krear 09/01/2024

Kathryn Ann (nee Mosher) Krear passed away Sept. 1, 2024 at Prescott Nursing & Rehabilitation in Prescott after a long illness. She was born Nov. 24, 1946 to John and Dorothy (Brown) Mosher in River Falls, Wis. She graduated from River Falls High School and then went on to UW-River Falls, where she studied art and computer science.

She was the primary caregiver for her father, a retired UWRF geography professor, until his death. They were extremely close. She soon met her future husband James Krear at a pool party and they became inseparable. They were married Aug. 19, 1999 on a cliffside on Mackinac Island, Mich. They settled in River Falls, Kam’s beloved hometown.

Kam worked at Mikkelson Drug in Hudson for several years, but caring for her home was what she loved most. She took pride in decorating the house and making it a home. She had a green thumb and had an abundance of beautiful plants in her home and yard. She especially loved African violets and lilacs. She also adored cats and had many feline friends over the years. Kam’s kitties were her babies.
She and Jim loved to travel and she always wanted to go to a destination by the water. Mackinac Island was her favorite place to go. Being near the water soothed her soul. Kam was a very social person and loved going out to dinner and coffee with Jim and her friends. She was there to offer people an ear and a shoulder if needed. Her sunporch was the site of many heart-to-heart chats.

Kam also loved to shop, especially at discount clothing stores, even if she didn’t leave the store with anything. She prided herself on giving people beautiful, thoughtful gifts and always remembered birthdays and special occasions. She was also famous for making her detailed shopping lists.

Kam was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Mosher; her father and mother-in-law Lamoine and Bernice Krear and her brother-in-law Bob Krear.

She is survived by her husband James Krear; stepson Christopher (Nadine) Wert; step-grandson Ethan (Kristy) Wert; sister Barb (Paul) Weninger, brother Greg Mosher, sisters-in-law Sherry (Peter) Reis, Susie (Bill) Swenson, Diane Krear; and nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at St. Bridget’s Church (211 E. Division St., River Falls), with a visitation prior to the service at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to a meal at the church after the service, followed by internment at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in River Falls. Memorials at the discretion of the family.
Bakken-Young of River Falls is serving the family.
