June Irene Olson, age 95 born on May 17, 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026. June grew up in Inver Grove Heights and graduated from So. St. Paul High School. She met her beloved husband, Bernard M. Olson at a dance and they married on October 19, 1950 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Inver Grove Heights and started a family. In 1970 they moved to a farm in Hager City, Wisconsin where they created lasting memories.

June had a remarkable life dedicated to family and community. In addition to managing the household and farm, she served as treasurer for the Town of Trenton and held two terms as Pierce County Treasurer. A devoted member of her community June spent 45 years with the American Legion Post 204 Auxiliary including serving as President. She was also involved with the VFW Post 1218 Auxiliary. After selling the farm in 2004 she moved to Red Wing, Minnesota. She met Detlef Bordthauser at a dance and they enjoyed 16 years together.

An avid gardener and quilter June found joy in spending time with family and friends and loved to dance, especially to old-time music. She was known for her hardworking nature, caring and serving spirit and as the rock of her family. June is survived by her children: Suzanne Ashton, Wendy (Daniel) Smith, Bob Olson and Jim Olson, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Jason (Amanda) Arnold, Melanie Banks, Rahel (Rick) Schafer, Lucas (Marguerite “Mimi”) Smith, Cody (Christina) Smith, Carissa Olson and Sarah Olson. 3 great-grandchildren are: August Arnold, Lydia Arnold and Jayden Banks. She is also survived by her 5 siblings and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Erna (Chilko) Danner; her husband Bernard Olson; her significant other Detlef Bordthauser; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Her legacy of love and dedication will be remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11 am at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 805 E Division Street River Falls, WI.  Visitation was also be on Saturday from 10-11 am at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 9:30 am on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
