June Hirsch 05/22/2012

June M. Hirsch, age 74 of River Falls, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in River Falls.  She was born on June 23, 1937 the daughter of Emil and Freida (Rickli) Dowling in Boscobel, WI.  June was a graduate of Boscobel High School with the class of 1955.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin River Falls.  On May 28, 1960, she was married to Thomas Hirsch in Chippewa Falls, WI.  June taught Elementary School until they had children, then she stayed home and raised their family.  She was an active member of Ezekiel Lutheran and later Hope Lutheran Churches.  June also volunteered many hours for the St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity.  She enjoyed her Bridge group and the American Association of University Women.  June liked to quilt and travel with Tweiten’s Travelers.  She was a prankster with a great sense of humor, a kind heart, and a generous way.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Freida Dowling; husband, Thomas Hirsch; and siblings, Joan Goodwiler, Helen Bolstead, Darris “Bud” Dowling.  June is survived by her children, Kurt (Angela) Hirsch and Rachel Hirsch; grandchildren, Ashley Althoff, Jaimie Althoff, Christopher Althoff, and Kelly Hirsch; great-grandchild, Kyler Althoff; siblings, Doris Conley, and Forrest (Linda) Dowling; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A memorial service was held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls.  Visitation was also Friday from 1:00-2:00 pm at the church.  Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity or the River Falls Community Project.  Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
