Judith A. Mattiacci, a former long-term resident of Wausau, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024, at the age of 88. Born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, to Floyd and Esther Christoph, Judy will be remembered as a quiet, humble, loving, generous, and gentle soul whose warmth and kindness touched everyone around her. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Peter Mattiacci, from September 24, 1955, until his passing on March 21, 2019.
Judy is going to be deeply missed by her children, Mark (Patricia) of Waukesha, WI, Steve (Terri) of Brookfield, WI, Jean (Linda Hoff) of Somerset, WI, and Paul (Jenny) Mattiacci of Minnetonka, MN. Judy was immensely proud to be the adored grandmother of Michael (Eunah) Mattiacci, Lauren (Robert Jr.) Neuville, Lisa (Bradley) Wiltz, Katie (Andrew) Evanich, Maggie (Michael) Lecher, Peter Mattiacci, Matt (Allison) Mattiacci and Nick Mattiacci. Judy is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, Sam, Christine, Grace, Emily, Owen, Austin, Ava, Jacob, Mary, Abigail, and Louie.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James (and wife, Natalie) and Richard. She is survived by Dick’s wife, Marilyn, and many nieces, nephews, and dear lifelong friends.
Judy was a stay-at-home mother and the biggest supporter of her family. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and other activities. Judy was also a Girl Scout leader, softball coach, and school volunteer. She loved playing golf, curling, and cards and was active in the Women’s Ministry and Bell Choir at First United Methodist Church, among many other activities.
Judy was known by her family and grandchildren for her signature Sloppy Joes whenever the families came for visits. She was the best-decorated cut-out cookie maker in the world, and she shared dozens with family, friends, and neighbors every Christmas and other holidays!
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 1st, in Wausau, WI, at the First United Methodist Church, 903 Third Street, Wausau, WI 54403. Visitation started at 10:00 a.m. and continued until the service at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.

Steve and Terri,
I am so sorry for this enormous loss in your lives. Sending love and healing thoughts at this truly difficult time. ♥️
Dearest Mattiacci family, We are so sad to hear of Aunt Judy’s passing – the last of the Floyd and Esther Christoph children. I’m glad you had her for so long. I realize that it wasn’t always easy, but your mom was a fortunate woman to have such a supportive and caring family. I wish I could be there, but will be sending extra love and strength to get through the service and the next stages. Much love, Abby
