Joy Bauermeister 03/10/2021

Joy Bauermeister, 85, of New Richmond, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, peacefully at our home. Joy was born on September 16, 1935, in Argonne, Wisconsin, to Leonard and Amy (Grandine) Steele at home. Graduation Crandon High School. 2 year teaching degree at the Normal School in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Her first teaching job was in Minnesota in a one room school house – Oakdale School in Corcoran. She would continue to see some of her students 50 years later. She married the love of her life, Fritz, on June 15, 1957. They were blessed with three children. After marriage she became a stay-at home mom up until they moved “all the way” to Wisconsin. Once in New Richmond she started babysitting out of their home. She then became a teacher at Slaters Nursery school after that she became a teacher at Noah’s Ark preschool which she loved up until she retired. Joy is survived by her children, Gary (Debbie) Bauermeister, of Amery, WI, Larry (Julie) Bauermeister, of New Richmond, WI, and Kari (Jim) Stockwell, of Brandon, WI. Ten grandchildren, Michael (Holly) Bauermeister, Travis (Kendal) Bauermeister, Tyler Bauermeister, Ted Bauermeister, Alan Bauermeister, Alexis (Brent) Schulze, Fletcher (Clarissa) Stockwell, Kalley (Tyson) Haen, Brady (Anne) Stockwell and Steele (Morgan) Haen. Great grandchildren, Avery, Jacob, Logan, Oakley, Porter, Able, Vayda, Ciera, Henry, and Alex. Joy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick (Fritz) Bauermeister; brothers, Don Steele, Chuck Steele; and sister, Bette Derickson.  A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1 pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church 365 W River Dr, New Richmond, WI 54017 and was streamed live through the link just below this obituary.  Visitation was also on Saturday from 12-1 pm at the church.  Interment will be in Boardman Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    Deepest sympathy to Joy’s family. Joy was my 2nd grade school teacher and kept in touch. Especially at Christmas I would make a phone call to first talk to your dad and then mom. Today they can enjoy heaven together.

    Larry, Kari and Gary – we are so sorry to hear about Joy. We know Joy and Fritz are together again hootin it up with other friends and families.     Thank you for sharing Joy’s service. Tears of Joy for Joy watching and enjoying the service. Larry, Gary and Kari my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families days and the days ahead. I loved both your Parents. Fritz always enjoyed when I would send him pictures of John’s big fish houses he built. Your mom I was always my life with her. We would laugh and cry and sometimes just talking help solve our problems. Thank you for sharing your parents with me, Barb

    My life was enriched by just knowing your parents! Joy gave so.much love to all of her students! Fritz calming and quiet in his presence. A true couple more should try to emulate. Hugs and blessings from afar! Thank you for sharing your folks with all of us
