John Oldenburg 03/14/2014

John Oldenburg age 90 of New Richmond, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on Friday, March 14, 2014.  John was born March 16, 1923 in Hewitt, MN.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arlene; daughter, Marsha (Mike) Garske; son, Wayne (Chris) Oldenburg; grandchildren, Cassandra Oldenburg, Ashley Garske; brother, Harry Oldenburg, sister, Ida Johnson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 1 brother.  He worked for the Railroad for 20 years and Friday Canning for 14 years.  He loved gardening, bowling, horseshoes, camping, fishing, playing cards and going to the casino.  Special thanks to Adoray Hospice and all of their volunteers for assisting John so he could stay at home until his passing. A memorial service was held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in New Richmond.  Visitation was held Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Bakken-Young Beebe Chapel in New Richmond and also Friday from 10:00-11:00 at church.  Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
