JoAnn Wicklund 01/10/2012

JoAnn Wicklund, 77 of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin died January 10, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.  JoAnn was born April 19, 1934 to Mildred (Weeks) Mickelson and Sidney Mickelson. JoAnn was the third child of Mildred and Sidney.  Sidney died seven months after JoAnn was born.  Mildred later married Oscar Johnson and they had a son.  JoAnn grew up on a farm in Maiden Rock, Wisconsin one of four children.  JoAnn married Howard Wicklund on June 6, 1953.  From an early age JoAnn loved to cook.  She utilized her cooking skills at home, work and church.  JoAnn worked for the Pepin Manor for many years before she took a job at the public school in Pepin, as a cafeteria cook and ended her career as head cook for the school.  JoAnn was an active member of Lund Mission Covenant Church and served on the Covenant Women board for many years.   JoAnn loved to feed and watch birds, plant and take care of flowers, decorate her home, and make floral arrangements.  JoAnn was an avid Brewers, Packers and Badgers fan.  Survivors include a husband, Howard, who she loved and adored for 58 years; sons, Steve (Robbie) of Pepin and Scott of Plymouth MN; daughters, Cindy (Barry) Hanson of Hastings, MN and Crystal (John) Hinrichs of Maiden Rock; eleven grandchildren, April, Amanda, Hannah, Colter, Denton, Justin, Isaac, Lyndsey, Kyler, Tyne, and Shayne; two great grandchildren, Cole and Madeline.  JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Mildred and Sidney Mickelson, step father Oscar Johnson brother Sidney and sister Dana and half brother Leroy.  A celebration of JoAnn’s life was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012 at Lund Mission Covenant Church.  Visitation was alsp Friday from noon until 1:45 p.m.  Spring interment will be in Marie Lund Cemetery.  Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Maiden Rock.
