Joan Marilyn Longsdorf, age 80 of Pepin, WI, formerly of Stockholm, WI, died on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Red Wing, MN. Joan was born the daughter of Martin and Blanche (Hetrick) Thompson on June 9, 1935 in Nelson, WI. She graduated from Durand High School with the class of 1953. On October 12, 1957, Joan was married to Larry Longsdorf in Durand, WI. They made their home in Stockholm, WI. Joan worked as a bartender at Ralph and Mary’s in Pepin for many years. She also worked at the Red Wing Shoe Factory for a number of years. Joan enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, and her flower gardens. She was a talented cook and seamstress, and liked making crafts. She could also be persuaded to go to garage sales. She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin Thompson and Blanche DeMarce; husband, Larry Longsdorf; brothers, Dan and Jerry Thompson; and brother-in-law, Lavern Bauer. Joan is survived by her children, Tim (Perry Smaglik) Longsdorf, Barb (Fred) Olson, Todd Longsdorf; grandchildren, Michael ( Dominique) Olson, Amanda (Connie Yang) Olson, Nicole Olson; sisters, Rita (Bob) Seeger, Carol Bauer, Sharon (Wayne) Roatch; brother, Mitch (Julie) Thompson; sisters-in-law, Marcia and Diane Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 2 pm at Calvary Covenant Church in Stockholm, WI. Memorial visitation was also held on Tuesday from 1-2 pm at the church. Private interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Stockholm at a later date. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Maiden Rock
