Jim Foster 08/31/2019

Jim Foster, age 73 of River Falls, WI, died Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Our Lady  of Peace in St. Paul, MN after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born on August 19, 1946 in Rochester MN to James and Merce Foster.  He was a long time entrepreneur, largely in the furniture business.  He married Lana L. Walters on May 18, 1991 in Rochester, MN.  They moved to New Richmond, WI and later moved to River Falls, WI.  He enjoyed spurt of the moment road trips with Lana to visit family,  friends and just to get away.  He was an avid golfer, both playing and watching on TV, and loved to fish.  He was a huge Minnesota sports fan.  He especially loved to watch and listen to the MN Twins games.  He took a love of attending his grandchildren’s baseball, football and hockey games.  Jim had a great sense of humor and a very big heart.  Jim is proceeded in death by his parents, Jim and Merce Foster; his son, James (Jimmy) Foster; and his wife of 27 years, Lana Foster.  His is survived by his daughters, Jacky (Shannon) Nelson of Hastings, MN and Jennifer Foster of River Falls, WI; daughter-in-law, Karin Foster of Mora, MN; grandchildren, Austin, Caitlyn and Adam Nelson of Hastings, MN and Noah, Dylan and Nichole Foster of Mora MN; along with his brothers, Mike (Vicki) Foster of River Falls, WI and Tim (Laura) Foster of Oak Park Heights, MN.  Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 2 pm at St. Bridget Church 211 E Division Street River Falls, WI.  Memorial visitation was also on Friday from 1-2 pm at the church.  Interment was in St. Bridget Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
