Jesse Getzie 02/25/2023

Jesse Lee Getzie 4/17/79 – 2/25/23

Jesse took his first breath deep into his new lungs on the 17th day of the 4th month in the last year of the 1970s. His last breath evaporated into the salty air of Oceanside CA 16,020 days later. The decades we were blessed with his golden soul were far too few. His youth was spent growing roots, playing hockey, and stepping off the well-trodden path. He skipped college and built businesses instead. Jesse worked long and hard to make himself a success. He taught himself to code and climbed the IT ladder until he became a sought-after Senior DevOps Consultant. No matter how many accolades his career provided, the role he was most proud of was being a father. Jesse was blessed with a loving and close family of origin including his mother Cindy Fuhrmann, stepfather Bob Fuhrmann, brother Jason Getzie, stepsister Christey Fuhrmann, grandfather Ronald Getzie and wife Shantina Getzie. He added a couple of branches to his family by fathering and raising two amazing children Tyrrel and Macy Getzie. They will always be his utmost accomplishments and the source of his greatest joys. Jesse had a generous nature and shared his heart with the mavericks, eccentrics, and angels in disguise that life threw across his path. His friendship was of a quality not often found in our present times. Genuine and humble. He was more than a friend for some of us who grafted him onto our own family trees. Brother Uncle Godfather by choice if not blood. Jesse was hilarious and had a self-deprecating sense of humor that taught others the joy of laughing at oneself. He was unabashedly curious and would try anything that piqued his interest. Pickle Ball, Birding, Cross-Fit, Long Boarding, Surfing, Koi Ponds, even Laser Engraving. He loved spending time with Tyrell in fishing boats and watching Macy as she rode horses. He supported both kids in following his footsteps into ice skates and onto the rink. He took his godson camping and his friends on hikes. It is hard to imagine that a fount of such light could contain so much despair. Jesse had such depths to his soul that all things resided within. He battled those demons with all he had. He had given so much of his heart away to others that what was left couldn’t carry him through that last battle. Jesse means “The Lord Exists” and his life was a testament to the existence of infinite love. Lee means “A Clearing in the Woods” and his passing has brought him through the dark forest into a meadow of peace. Jesse Lee Getzie may have left this world, but he will never leave our hearts. We will carry him with us until we meet again and be forever grateful for the light he brought into all of our lives.

A Celebration of Life was held for Jesse on Sunday, April 23rd from 1-4 pm at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course in River Falls, Wisconsin

Oh, sweet Jesse, I’m so sad. My heart is broken for your family and ours. I will forever miss your big happy smile and welcoming hugs, and your contagious laugh. You were like another brother at our house, and most importantly you were always an amazing friend/brother for Chris. I thank you so much and am forever grateful for that. Love you buddy!
