Janet Elaine Praschak, born on May 20, 1960, in New Richmond, Wisconsin, passed away on May 13, 2025, at the age of 64. Janet was a cherished member of her community, known for her unwavering support of local fundraising events, particularly the Ride for Our Heroes. She had an adventurous spirit and a kind heart, always ready to lend a hand to those in need.
Janet dedicated her professional life as a Pricing Coordinator in the grocery industry, where she was respected for her expertise and commitment to her work. Beyond her career, she had a deep love for her family, especially her husband, Stephan Praschak, and their sons, Aaron and Alex. Janet’s greatest joy came from cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting and dance events, taking immense pride in their accomplishments.
An avid Green Bay Packers fan, Janet’s enthusiasm for her team was well-known among friends and family. She combined her love for sports with community engagement, creating lasting memories and connections.
Janet leaves behind her beloved husband, Steve Praschak, sons, Aaron (Alyssa) Praschak and Alex (Kelly) Praschak, grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ella) Praschak, Kelton Praschak, Jamie Praschak and (soon to be born) Wesley Praschak, brothers Mark (Linda) Matthys, Shawn Matthys and her devoted mother, Marilyn Matthys. Janet was preceded in death by her father, Wesley Matthys.
Janet’s warmth, generosity, and spirited nature will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Jan’s Life was held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 6 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church 415 Bridge Avenue Star Prairie, WI. Visitation was also on Tuesday from 3-6 pm at the church. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery in Star Prairie. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
