Janet Marie Newman, 72, passed away at home on February 18th, 2024, after a 7.5 year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She graduated from Johnson High School in 1969 in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduation, she started working as a travel agent. Janet also worked for a medical device company and most recently operated the water testing lab and was the office manager for Butterfield Drilling.
Janet had a passion for animals- especially horses and dogs. Much of her free time was spent horseback riding with friends and her daughter. She also had an interest in horticulture and at one time owned a hosta nursery. Janet had an appreciation for sci-fi movies/TV series with Star Wars and Star Trek (the original) being her favorites. Around Christmas time, Janet would make her famous peanut brittle, a family favorite. She was a devoted mother and spent a great deal of her time supporting her children through college and beyond. Despite the challenges of her last several years, Janet maintained a strong faith through Eagle Brook Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenna (husband Adam), and son, Ryan (girlfriend Tiffany) as well as her sister Sandy and sister-in-law Cheryl (Tom), along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Tom and parents, George and Emma.
