Jane Anna Janke age 92 of Hammond, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away quietly on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at American Heritage Care Center in Hammond. She was born the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Wingate) Rotolo on December 31, 1923 in Lincolnton, NC. Jane grew up and attended school in Bradenton, FL and worked at the Woolworth in town. In 1944, she married Howard William Janke in Bradenton, FL while he was stationed in Sarasota,FL during the war. After the war, in 1947, the couple moved to Eau Claire, WI where Howard’s family was from and raised their family in Eau Claire. After the children were gone, Jane worked at Sears and in retirement, she and Howard spent their winters in Florida. Jane enjoyed music and singing. She belonged to the Sweet Adelines and played piano and organ. Jane was known, even up to the age of 90, to re-arrange her furniture at her home often. She had a soft spot for animals especially her dog, Buffy. However, Jane loved her family and absolutely adored her grandchildren, along with her great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Howard; twin sister, Josie and sister, Margaret. Jane is survived by her three sons, Howard “Butch” (Mary) Janke of Ramsey, MN, William (Maurine) Janke of Georgetown, TX, David (Jenny) Janke of Baldwin, WI; grandchildren, Jason (Santina) Janke, Jamie (James) Letourneau, Gregory Janke, Jeffrey (Jackie) Janke, Ellysha Janke; great- grandchildren, Colton Janke, David Letourneau, Riley Janke, Sophia Janke, Logan Janke, Jensen Janke; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:00 at Calvary Assembly of God Church (2988 60th Ave.) Wilson, WI. Visitation will also be Saturday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in Eau Claire, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Baldwin.
