James Russell Woodford, age 83, peacefully passed away, on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Hammond Health Services in Hammond, Wisconsin. Jim was born November 6, 1939, to Leroy and Helen Woodford in Redwood, Minnesota. Jim is survived by his children, Cathy Jo (Terri) Swanson, Bobbie Jo Woodford, Robin (Rich) Haider, Sonda (Glenn) Schmidt, Brenda (Roger) Pouliot, Richard Cavegn, and Wanda (John) Warner; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and brothers, Robert (Marilu) Woodford, John (Diane) Woodford and Charles (Anne) Woodford. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Charlene Grinstad and his brother Dave Woodford. Friends and family gathered to celebrate Jim’s life on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 South Knowles Ave) New Richmond, WI at 4:00PM and visitation was at 3:00PM. Jim was a proud Marine and acknowledged for his service with full military honors. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

I have such beautiful memories of Grandpa Jim. Especially around Christmas. He would always show up dressed in a tight sweater and smelled so amazing. He always just loved to talk with his grandkids and watch them interact. He took everything in and was such a humble man. I loved being his “pen pal”, although life definitely got busier for me and the letters decreased, but there was something special about sending him a quick letter with an updated picture and he ALWAYS wrote back. Loved everything about him. Rest in peace Grandpa. I miss you already. Till we meet again, I love you.
