James Rogers 05/12/2015

James Dennis Rogers, age 80 of Hudson, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond.  Jim was born the son of John and Marie (Meehan) Rogers on January 12, 1935 on the family farm in Woodland Township near Waverly, MN.  Jim was the fourth of five children.  He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Waverly, MN.  on May 14, 1955, Jim married Shirley May at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.  They raised 8 children.  Jim worked for area farmers at an early age.  In high school he worked road construction for McGarry Bros. and Craig J. Alexander.  After high school he worked in a milk drying plant in Howard Lake, MN.  He then went to work for Lincoln Equipment until 1958 when he started working for Monarch Chemical which was purchased by H.B. Fuller.  He worked there for 40 years.  After that business was sold, he worked for Anderson Chemical out of Wilmar, MN.  Jim was very active in the Boy Scouts as a Scout Leader for many years in Altoona, WI and as an Assistant Scout Leader in Hudson.  He is a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Hudson and a 60 year member of the Knights of Columbus in Waverly, MN.  Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.  He will be sorely missed by his family, his many friends, and business associates.  He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Rogers; sister, Margaret (Harvey) Kutz; brother, John J. Rogers; and daughter, Donna Marie Rogers.  Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Rogers; children, Michael (Donna) Rogers, Catherine (Dennis) Rivard, Terry (Janie) Rogers, Patrick (Sandy) Rogers, Kevin (Jane) Rogers, John (Tricia) Rogers, and Mary (Rich) Tunnicliff; grandchildren, Nick (Corey Lynn) Rogers, Corey (Susan) Rogers, Jason (Kristi) Rogers, Jackie Rivard, Rebecca Schoene, Dawn (Derrick) Jacobson, Dallas Rogers, Sierra Rogers, Alex Rogers, Aaron Rogers, Lauren Rogers, Jackson Rogers, Emily Tunnicliff, Ali Tunnicliff, Kade Rogers, and Sydney Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sr. John Ellen Rogers and Dorothy (Mel) Stuhr; sister-in-law, Pat Rogers; and many nieces, nephews and friends.  Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 9:30 am at St. Patrick Parish 1500 Vine Street Hudson, WI.  Visitation was Friday, May 15, 2015 from 4-8 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 pm at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home 502 3rd Street Hudson, WI.  Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waverly, MN.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Hudson.
