James Lee Parent, 77, of Hudson, WI, formerly of New Richmond, WI, passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2026. Born on August 28, 1948, in New Richmond to Ernest and Fern Parent, Jim lived a full life surrounded by family and friends.
A proud Navy veteran, Jim served from November 22, 1967, to November 8, 1971, reaching the rank of MM3. After returning home, he worked for many years as a stocker at Krueger’s grocery store until it closed, followed by ten plus years at Kwik Trip, until he retired.
Jim had a zest for life that included regular casino trips, rodeos, and county fairs. He loved spending time outdoors, tracking with his dogs, and was a member of a tracking club. After retiring, he moved to Hudson, where he continued to enjoy life to the fullest.
He is survived by his sisters, Barb (Donald) Prinsen, Rita (Harold) Johnson, and Gert (Robert) Mullen; his brother, Tom (Bev) Parent; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Fern; and siblings Donald Parent, William Parent, Gloria Larson, Betty Larson, Shirley Sontag, Sharon Vesper, Bernadette Parent, Joe Parent, and Mary Schmit.
To honor Jim’s memory, a private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Rest in peace Jim—you will be truly missed
I went to school with Jim. I never knew him to be anything but courteous, respectful and happy, AND he was ALWAYS happy to talk. Great guy.
Jim worked with my mom Joyce Peterson for years at Kruegers. My condolences to Rita and family.
My sympathy to my Schmit cousins and families on the passing of Jim and to the Parent family especially Barb Prinsen also. Peace to all missing Jim on his passing.
