Jake Wagner, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly in an accident on July 1, 2026. He left this world doing what he always did — living fully, loving deeply, and shining brightly.
Jacob “Jake” Wagner was born on January 12, 1979, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, to Jack and Kathleen Wagner. He grew up with a big heart, a bright spirit, and a deep love for people — qualities that would define his entire life. Jake graduated from Champlin Park High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business from Buena Vista University. In 2000, he met Stacey, the love of his life, and the two were married in 2002. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, laughter, partnership, and unwavering devotion to one another. In 2004, while living in Hudson, Wisconsin, they welcomed their daughter, Abby. After settling permanently in River Falls, Jake and Stacey welcomed their son, Gavin, in 2009.
Jake lived his life with a joy that was impossible to miss and a faith that guided every step he took. Jake had a gift for making people feel like they were his best friend. Whether it was a smile across the farmers market, a wave from the driveway, or a long conversation that started with “hello” and turned into something much bigger, Jake made time for people. He checked in. He showed up. He listened. He encouraged. His presence made every room lighter, every moment warmer, and every person feel seen.
He lived his faith not only in church, but in the way he treated people. He volunteered at church teaching elementary kids about God, pouring his heart into helping them understand the joy and hope of faith. He loved his church family deeply and found purpose in serving others.
Jake started his business career after college and spent many years as a valued employee at 3M. Most recently, he was the co owner of South Ridge Ranch Bacon, where he became known to many as “Smokemaster Jake.” What began as a dream quickly became a thriving business built on hard work, creativity, and community. He greeted every customer with enthusiasm, shared stories about his family, and made the farmers market feel like home. His excitement was contagious, his kindness unwavering, and his belief in people inspiring.
Above all else, Jake was a family man. He adored his wife, Stacey, who he proudly called his partner in life and in business. He loved his daughter, Abby, and was endlessly proud of the woman she has become. He cherished his son, Gavin, and treasured their bike trips and adventures together. Jake talked about his children often, sharing stories with anyone who would listen. His love for them was the heartbeat of his life.
Jake also served his community as the voice behind high school games and Fighting Fish events, bringing his trademark humor, energy, and joy to every announcement. He made ordinary moments unforgettable.
Jake is preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty Laing, Betty Wagner and Jack Wagner, Sr.; his father-in-law, John Bailey; along with other cherished relatives.
Jake is survived by his wife, Stacey Wagner; his children, Abby and Gavin Wagner; his parents, Jack and Kathleen Wagner; his sister, Andrea Ries (James); his grandfather, Harold Laing; his mother-in-law, Shirley Bailey; and many other beloved family and friends.
Jake lived his purpose with clarity and passion. He loved God, his family, and he loved a good joke about his bacon (meat). His absence leaves a darkness that can only be softened by the light he poured into so many hearts. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
All are invited to wear orange or a tropical shirt in honor of Jake.
