Jack M. Bostrack age 85 of River Falls died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Comforts of Home in River Falls surrounded by his family. He was born the son of Martin and Ora (Otteson) Bostrack on April 30, 1931 in Stoughton, WI. Jack graduated from Stoughton High School in 1949 and then attended and graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA in 1953. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Germany. Following his service in the Armed Forces, he began teaching high school in Shell Rock, IA. Through the years, Jack furthered his education and received his Masters and Phd from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. In 1961, he began teaching at Wayne State University in Nebraska and then moved his family to River Falls in 1963 to begin his 32 year career at University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Jack loved to keep busy and had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking, fishing, photography, and gardening along with his interests in painting, sketching and cooking. He is remembered for his homemade cribbage boards and row boats for every family member. His family loved his Chinese chicken wings, egg drop soup and deep dish pizza. Jack loved his family and spending time with all of them. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn; daughters, Zenda (Steven) Moore, Tamara (Douglas) Ducklow, Tonnja (Patrick) Magee; grandchildren, Chad (Shannon) Moore, Jason (Katie) Moore, Jarred (Jillian) Pechacek, Lucas (Kinga) Pechacek; Rebecca (Jason) Halada, Matthew (Ashley) Magee; great grandchildren, Makenna, Zelli, Kira, Aubree, Jayden, Jayma, Colette, William, James, Lucy, John, Randi and Tucker; brothers, Dale (Linda) Bostrack, Wayne Bostrack; sisters-in-law, Lois Quale and Rae Stelzer; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Ora Bostrack, his sister Patsy, his brother Terry, mother and father in-law Oscar and Harriet Nelson, sister-in-law Bonnie Bostrack, brother-in-law’s John Quale and Ken Stelzer. A memorial service was held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Ezekiel Lutheran Church (202 S 2nd St.) in River Falls. Visitation was also held Monday from 12-2 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: Alzheimer’s Association Greater Wisconsin Chapter 3313 S.Packerland Dr., Suite E; DePere, WI 54115. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.

Sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. I will always remember him fondly as one of my most favorite professors at UW-River Falls. Prayers & Sympathy to his family
