Helen Muto 08/17/2014

Helen Muto, age 87 of River Falls, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at her home.  Helen was born on September 19, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Anton and Anna (Weczka) Marcus.  She grew up in Chicago.  Helen met her husband Peter after becoming friends with Peter’s sister Nancy while Peter was away serving in WWII.  They were married on October 31, 1945 in Oak Park, IL.  They moved to River Falls in 1954.  Helen worked at the Hilltop Restaurant in Ellsworth, WI and as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Lutheran Home.  She was a senior member of the Royal Neighbors group, taking part in many of their activities.  She loved to go to Treasure Island Casino.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Anna Marcus; and seven siblings.  Helen is survived by her husband, Peter Muto; children, Allen Muto, Cheryl Karnes, Diane Muto, Mark Muto, Roxann (Esekiel) Mendoza; grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Cole, Randy Muto, Amy Paterek, Tara (Richard) Lueneberg, and Trevor Brown; and 7 great-grandchildren.  A Celebration of Helen’s life was held on Friday, September 19, 2014 (Helen’s Birthday) from 2-4 pm with a prayer service at 2:30 pm at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home 805 E Division Street River Falls, WI.  Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
