Heather Sporer 09/13/2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Heather Mary Sporer, age 47 of River Falls, WI, announces her sudden passing on September 13, 2018, after a short illness. Heather was born the daughter of Greg and Judy (Thomte) Sporer on December 27, 1970 in St. Paul, MN. She graduated from Stillwater High School with the class of 1989. Heather received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Century College. Heather was a nurse for 20 years, a job she really loved, and was just starting a job that would have used her psychology degree. ON September 9, 1999, Heather married Joseph Schmahl in Hudson, WI. She loved baking cakes and making her famous taco dip. She enjoyed traveling, just not the flying. She supported any team from MN and WI, except the Packers. Heather loved playing darts, trivia, bingo, and watching TV and movies. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Joseph Schmahl of River Falls; parents, Greg and Judy Sporer of Little River SC; brother, Ben (Andrea) Sporer of Stillwater, MN; sister, Becca (Troy) Reichkitzer of Rush City, MN; in-laws, Louise (Rainer) Schmahl of Pepin, WI, Laurabeth (Moni) Pittman of Hammond, WI, Rebecca (Jeff) Pajac of Martell, WI, Marylee Schmahl of Hammond, WI, Bernard Schmahl of Hammond, WI; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and too many friends to count.  A Celebration of Heather’s Life was held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 7 pm at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home 805 E Division Street River Falls, WI.  Visitation was also held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.

My husband and I were friends with Heather in college. Though the years have passed we have always remembered those years fondly. Heather was a bright light extinguished too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

Our hearts go out to you, Greg and Judy, and Heather’s entire family. The loss of a child is by far the hardest to give words of comfort and support to you during this difficult time. We are so sorry, if there is anything we can do for you do not hesitate to call. All our love, Richie and Dawn Foresta

I worked with Heather at Linden Health Care in Stillwater. She was often quiet, but had a great sense of humor. She was a good friend and was blessed to have had her in my life. My deepest sympathies on a wonderful gal who has left this world way too soon.
