Hazel V. Erickson 11/03/2021

Hazel Vivian Erickson, age 95, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at The Seasons Assisted Living in Plum City, WI. She was born February 18, 1926 to Herman and Ellen Peterson. Hazel grew up in the Maiden Rock, WI area. She attended the Maiden Rock School. She left school early due to her poor vision. She worked at Harold’s Apple Orchard, Red Wing Shoe Factory and at the Maiden Rock Hotel. On March 15, 1948, she married Raymond Erickson. She lived on the family farm in the Pine Creek Area for most of her life. She loved all aspects of farming. She was known among her family for her excellent cooking, due to her poor vison almost everything was made from scratch. She enjoyed listening to the radio (especially Party Line) and to music. One of her greatest joys in life was her family. She cherished the time she spent with them. She would reach out daily to family and friends through phone calls. She attended the Lund Mission Covenant Church. During the last year, she enjoyed listening to those sermons online. To her family she exemplified love, strength, loyalty, and selflessness. She was a hardworking determined lady who valued her independence. She was grateful that she could live on her own on the farm until the last months of her life.  Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; daughter, Kim Morth; daughter-in – law, Sue Erickson; sister, Francis (Charles) Sanford; brothers, Willard Peterson and Clarence Peterson, and infant twin siblings.  She is survived by daughter, Linda (Ed) Groom; son, Jeff (Shelly) Erickson; son-in-law, Tim Morth; grandchildren, Shelly (Jason) Petermann, Jenny (James) Franklin, John (Jill) Erickson, Lucas (Tessa) Morth, Cody Morth, and Jenna Morth. Great- grandchildren, Morgan Petermann, Camryn Petermann, Averi Franklin, Mason Franklin, Sam Erickson, Sawyer Morth and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 1 pm at Lund Mission Covenant Church W10899 CTH-CC, Pepin, WI 54769 and streamed live through the link just below this obituary.  Visitation was also on Tuesday from 12-1 pm at the church.  Interment was in the Marie Lund Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to the Lund Mission Covenant Church.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hazel would have been my second cousin. My Dad was Art Carlson. I always wanted to stop by the farm but couldn’t remember how to get there from the cemetery.
