Grace Eleanor Van Swol (nee McKenzie), born July 3, 1925, passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2025, at the age of ninety-nine. A woman of remarkable faith and resilience, Grace’s life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Grace is lovingly remembered by her children Gail (Nicholas), Gerilyn, Glenn (Mary), and Garnet, grandchildren Alyssa, Erin, and Nicholas, Brittany, Heather and Blaine, and Brittani, Ben, Cole, Logan, and Greyson, and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald, her parents, John and Ivy, her brothers, Leonard and Dan, and her dear son, Gregg.
Grace was a devoted mother and homemaker and a talented seamstress who also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She loved music, especially hymns and Southern gospel, which filled her days with joy. Above all, it was Grace’s hunger to read and study God’s word that guided and shaped her life.
In her later years, Grace faced profound challenges, including the loss of both her husband and son, the loss of her eyesight, and the need to rely on a wheelchair for mobility. Yet, despite these trials, she remained faith-filled and joyful. Grace’s life will forever be a source of inspiration to her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A private graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Star Prairie, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
