Glenn Hansen, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Glenn served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 before earning both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls. While at UW–River Falls, he was a standout pitcher for the Falcons baseball team, a role that reflected his lifelong love of sports. He then began a teaching career that spanned more than 30 years at New Richmond High School as a Social Studies teacher, athletic coach, and referee. He loved sharing his knowledge with his students and enjoyed helping them learn about history, economics, and the world around them. He also found great satisfaction in coaching young athletes, encouraging them both on and off the field, and left a lasting impression on countless students, athletes, colleagues, and friends.

In his free time, Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing bridge, and trying his luck at blackjack. An accomplished golfer, he recorded multiple hole-in-ones over the years. He was equally proud of catching two trophy fish—a bass and a northern—which became favorite stories to share with family and friends. He appreciated good conversation, friendly competition, and spending time with friends and family.

Some of Glenn’s happiest moments were spent with his family. He loved being a husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he cherished the time he spent with each of them. His kindness, quiet strength, and steady presence will be deeply missed.

Glenn lived a long and meaningful life, and those who knew him will remember his sense of humor, his wisdom, and the many good times they shared together.

In keeping with Glenn’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, please raise a glass, share a favorite story, and make a toast to Glenn.
