Gerald W. Miller was born July 9, 1921. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Gerald, age 89, passed away surrounded by family on May 16, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Anna Elaine “PeeWee” (Ball); four children, Mary (John) Prokop of Oconomowoc, Wis., Edward Miller of New Richmond, Wis., Eileen Larson of Lakeland, Minn., Allan Miller, Baldwin, daughter-in-law Diane (Louis) Rivard of Somerset, Wis., eleven grandchildren, Sr. Mary Margaret, Sherrie, Donovan, Bridget, Matthew, Chad, Shane, Joshua, Sara, Michael and Brian, five great grandchildren, Abbey, Sydney, Mariah, Allie and McKenna, and one brother, Robert Miller. He is preceded in death by sons, Joe and Paul.
Gerald was born and raised in Star Prairie enjoying the country life with his seven siblings. Gerald proudly served his country in WWII with the 40th Combat Engineers, earning awards for his participation in the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign. He remained a proud veteran throughout his life.
After retirement from Andersen Corporation, Gerald and Anna moved to Webster, Wisconsin. An avid sportsman, Gerald enjoyed taking friends and family, especially grandchildren, to his favorite fishing spots. Being an arm chair quarterback it was fitting that the Green Bay Packers would earn the Super Bowl XLV title.
Gerald will be deeply missed, but richly remembered by all of his family.
Mass of Christian Burial 11AM Thursday May 19, 2011 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somerset, Wisconsin. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church, with a Rosary Service starting a 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lakeview Hospice or St. Anne’s Parish or School. Donations for Memorial Masses celebrated at either St. Anne’s or Immaculate Conception would also be appreciated.
