Gerald Amundson 03/16/2023

Gerald “Jerry” Amundson, age 92, of New Richmond, WI passed away on March 16, 2023 at Westfields Hospital after a brief illness.  Jerry was born the son of Clarence and Ann (Scheidecker) Amundson on September 17, 1930 in Bloomer, WI.  He graduated from high school in Randolph, MN and following graduation he enlisted to serve his country in the US Air Force.  Jerry became a truck driver and was a very dedicated driver ending up owning his own trucking business.  On December 8, 1956, he married Fern Frame in Northfield, MN.  Jerry worked as a teenager until his 70’s before starting to enjoy some past times like golf and trips to casinos.  He always made time to “kid” around with people, especially his family and to cheer on his Minnesota Vikings, Gophers and Twins.  Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ann; brothers, Bob and Curt; and grandson, Dillion.  He is survived by his wife, Fern; children, Susan (Tollie) Thomas, Steven (Carolyn) Amundson, Don (Sue) Amundson; grandchildren, Brett (Ashley), Tollie Jr., Stephanie, Isiah (Whitney), Tony (Angie), Steven (Megan), Tanya (Bill), Michael and Randy (Rachel); 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Billie Jean (Jerry) Jerome.  A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave.) in New Richmond. Visitation was also Saturday one hour before the service.  Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post #80 of New Richmond.  Private family interment will be in the Boardman Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
