George Barringer 01/23/2011

George H. Barringer age 95 of Baldwin, formerly of Hammond died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at United Hospital.  He was born the son of Charles David and Mary (Keifer) Barringer on November 6, 1915 in Pierce County, WI.  In March 1939 , he married Helen Marie Hanson.  George worked in the CCC camps in Hayward and Black River Falls.  He farmed most of his life and enjoyed helping family and friends with farming even in retirement.  George also worked for the St. Croix County Highway Department.  He volunteered at the Nutrition Site until this past November and in 2010 was named Volunteer of the Year at the St. Croix County Fair.  Over his life, he donated over 13 gallons of blood.  George always had a vegetable garden and enjoyed being outside mowing lawn.  He was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; wife, Helen; daughter, Maxine Johnson; granddaughter, Cindy Ista; and great grandson, Dillon Amundson.  George will be missed by his daughters, Marie (Wayne) Ista, Elizabeth (Dale) Bryan, Barbara (Satch) Olson; grandchildren, Sandra (Vernon) Timm, Susan (Donald) Amundson, Troy (Robin) Goossens, Sally Ista, Candice Johnson, Mona (Kevin) Finder, Bart (Shannon) Olson, Christopher (Fran) Olson, Wendy (Jamie) Pocock, Wanda Hinkle; great-grandchildren. Marcus Goossens, Mitchell Goossens, Matthew Goossens, Michael Amundson, Randy Amundson, Samantha Timm, Matthew Finder.  A funeral service was held Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hammond.  Visitation was also Thursday from 10:00-11:00 am before the service.  Interment was in the Hammond Cemetery.  Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Baldwin.
