Gene Gove 02/07/2021

Gene Gove, age 86 of Star Prairie, WI, died on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson, WI. Gene was born the son of Clarence and Bernice (Rundhammer) Gove on February 13, 1934 in New Richmond, WI. He grew up in Star Prairie, graduating from New Richmond High School with the class of 1952. On October 3, 1953, he was married to A. Elaine Casey. Gene worked for a few construction companies before starting his own business, Imperial Counters. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and played for numerous softball teams. He supported wildlife conservation through many organizations like Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Gene spent his winters in Bonita Springs, FL for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going for walks, and socializing at the Friendly Bar. Gene believed that you worked hard, and you played hard. He was a kind, strong, determined man who loved to tell a story. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Bernice Gove; wife, Elaine Gove; sons, Casey Gove and Michael Gove; and brother, Jerry (Virginia) Gove. Gene is survived by his children, Kathy (John) Peterson, Pat (Tony) Brozek, Jeanie (Brian) Olson, Colleen (Kevin) Wojciechowski, Kelly (Missi) Gove; daughter-in-law, Mary Gove; grandchildren, J.R. Roberts, Sarah (Mike) Easton, Joe (Miranda) Brozek, Jake Brozek, Andy (Susan) Olson, Ben (Lindsey) Olson, Dylan Gove, Danny (Linna) Gove, Logan Gove, Regan Gove, Alex Wojciechowski, Tyler (Allie Stalboerger) Wojciechowski, Casey Gove; great-grandchildren, Brynn and Carli Brozek, Tessa and Connor Olson, Nora and Quinn Olson; sister, Mary McGee; brother, Greg Gove; and many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 1 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services, 728 S Knowles Avenue, New Richmond, WI. The service was live streamed through the link just below this obituary. Visitation was also on Wednesday from 12 – 1 pm at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to: The Riverwood Nature Center in Star Prairie, WI.     We are so sorry for your family’s loss. We got to know Gene through estate sales. He will be truly missed by many people. RIP Gene.

    We just learned of Gene’s passing. We have many fond memories of the Red Rooster, Softball, Cedar Lake, and hunting trips to South Dakota & Nebraska. We will miss our friend. Bob & Shirley Keating
