Gayle D. Nylander, age 72 of River Falls, loving wife, mother and grandmother lost her battle with Alzheimer’s on December 30, 2016. Preceded in death by her parents, BelleDean Fenton and Alvin Soderberg. Survived by her husband, Virgil of 52 years; daughter, Lisen H. (Leif) Stoa; grandsons, Andrew and Aaron; brothers, David (Nancy) Soderberg and Dan Soderberg. Gayle graduated from Englewood High School in Englewood, Colorado in 1962 and attended Colorado State University and the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. Gayle was employed at several River Falls businesses including office manager at Hagberg’s Department Store, accounts clerk at River Falls Area Hospital, bookkeeper at Northwest Mortgage and Realty, supervisor of the loan department at Durand Federal Savings and Loan and for the last 13 years of employment as utility account clerk for the River Falls Utility Department. She had a passion for her grandchildren, reading and music. Gayle and her husband, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii), the Caribbean and Europe during retirement. She should be remembered as a kind and giving individual who was always supportive of her family and friends. Gayle was also known for her wonderful sense of humor. Services were held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the River Falls United Methodist Church, 127 S 2nd Street. Visitation at 10 am followed by the service at 11 am. The family wishes to thank the Lutheran Home and Kinnic Health & Rehab for the wonderful care she received. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or The University of Wisconsin – River Falls Foundation Campus Beautification Fund.
