Frank Bishop 05/04/2015

Frank Bishop, originally of Blackpool, England and long-time resident of Star Prairie,  died quietly in his sleep at his home on Monday, May 4, 2015.  He was 90 years old.  Frank was born December 7, 1924 in Bolton, England, the son of Frank Radford and Margaret (Earnshaw) Bishop.  He was a 1st generation British immigrant and served in WWII with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), Black Watch Regiment.  Frank was a retired Aerospace Engineer and Methodist minister and, working for Lutheran Social Services and as Director of the Ladysmith Living and Learning Center, became a foster parent for over 140 teen-aged boys.  In later years he also worked as a school bus driver in the New Richmond School District.  Frank enjoyed motorcycles, rally races and model railroading.  He was a longtime volunteer at the John Beargrease Sleddog Marathon and was also an honorary member of the MN Clan Cameron,  Northern Lights Branch.  Frank was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He will be missed by his wife, Sandy; children, Carol Ann (Dennis) Morrison, Lesley Jane (Walter) Salin, Henry Radford (fiance’ Christopher Hibberd) Bishop; grandchildren, Nicholas John Salin, Joshua Bishop Morrison, and Eli Jackson Salin.  A celebration of Frank’s life was held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 am at the New Richmond United Methodist Church.  Visitation was also Saturday from 10-11 am at the church.  Following the service military honors were provided by American Legion Post #80 of New Richmond.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
