Everal “Bud” Merriman, age 102 of Clayton, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Bud was born January 20, 1922, in Pierce County to Arvia and Inez (Roatch) Merriman. He graduated Ellsworth High School in 1939. Bud worked at the Ellsworth Creamery, delivering milk and was a pin setter at a local bowling alley before turning 16. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school and was stationed in Pennsylvania, Missouri, Hawaii, and Wisconsin. Bud met his beloved wife, Donna Luhmann, in 1939 and they were married on August 11, 1942, in Red Wing, MN. Their marriage, of 65 years, was blessed with three children Terrence, Edward, and Lynn. After retiring from the Army, Bud worked in the River Falls College textbook library for 20 years, before retiring and moving to the Chippewa Flowage in Hayward. Bud and Donna enjoyed fishing on the flowage, bowling, and golfing together.
Bud enjoyed being active and chatting with friends and family. Golfing was his favorite hobby which he played until he was 95. He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends and family.
Bud is survived by two sons Edward (Cynthia) of Rio Rancho, NM, and Lynn of Clayton, WI; two grandchildren Craig (Linda) of Ely, MN and Amanda, Clayton, WI; five great grandchildren Mackenzie, Beau, Alex, Sean, and Elizabeth; one great-great granddaughter, Peyton. He will also be remembered fondly by countless friends and extended family including Carol Merriman.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna, his parents, son Terrence; his siblings Lee “Putt”, Bill, Rex, Mavis, Donna Jean, Maxine, Max, Monie, Merlin; daughter-in -law Laurie.
A Memorial Gathering was held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 1:00-4:00PM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (805 E Division Street River Falls, WI 54022) with military honors performed by the American Legion Post 121 of River Falls at 4:00PM. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

We rented Bud and Donna’s basement apartment when we first got married in 1965. lol s of fun memories from those years! He will be missed!
Uncle Bud. You were an amazing man. I, too, remember renting your basement apt. I always felt you looked out for me. You and dad enjoyed your love of golf. Rest in peace. Skindy ( you always called me that)
Didn’t see Uncle Bud much only when we made trips up to River Falls or Hayward, at least once or twice a year. Those were always great times, fishing, playing cards and of course golfing. Rest in Peace ❤️
We, too, rented from Bud and Donna from August 1968 until April 1970.
They were such kind people. RIP Bud!

I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Bud when he did his wellness program! He was truly an inspiration to many! I had many conversations that I will always cherish! RIP Bud, you are with your wife again.
